Your employees are busy. Between meetings, deadlines, and constant notifications, finding an uninterrupted hour for a training course is a real challenge. Microlearning addresses this head-on by breaking learning into short, focused modules — typically between two and ten minutes — that each cover a single skill or idea.

Why does it work? Shorter modules are easier to fit into a working day, so completion rates tend to be higher. Focusing on one objective at a time reduces cognitive overload, which helps learners actually remember what they've learned. And because each module stands on its own, learners can return to the exact piece of content they need at the moment they need it — a quick refresher before a client call, or a two-minute walkthrough before using a new system.
Microlearning is especially effective for product knowledge updates, compliance refreshers, software how-tos, sales enablement, onboarding checklists, and soft-skill reminders. It is less suited to complex topics that need deep, sequential study — in those cases, microlearning works best as reinforcement alongside a longer course.
Good microlearning starts with good design, not just shorter videos. Begin by defining one clear learning objective per module. Then choose the right format for that objective: a short explainer video, an interactive scenario, an infographic, a quick quiz, or a simple job aid. Keep the language direct, cut anything that doesn't serve the objective, and end each module with a quick check of understanding.

Delivery matters too. Microlearning modules should be mobile-friendly, quick to load, and easy to find. Publishing them as SCORM or xAPI packages lets you track completions and quiz scores in your LMS, while spaced reminders — sending a short follow-up module a few days or weeks later — help move knowledge into long-term memory.
Finally, measure and improve. Look at completion rates, quiz results, and learner feedback to see which modules land and which need rework. Because each module is small, updating content is fast and inexpensive compared to rebuilding an entire course.
At Codemarine Technologies, we design and build microlearning programmes using Articulate Storyline 360, custom HTML5 interactions, professional video editing, and AI voice overs — published to SCORM or xAPI and tested on your LMS.
